Angel of Music Workshop Auditions

Posted in Uncategorized on October 1, 2010 by angelofmusic2010

Hey guys, AOM’s Stage Manager here. So we’ve picked some dates to set auditions for the workshops which will be taking place in late November, early December. This workshop will be what we call “Reader’s Theater”, essentially staged readings of the script which will allow people to hear it in a fairly open forum. We’ll be holding auditions in late October. Auditioners will be asked to prepare (musically) two songs, one uptempo that has belting in it, and one ballad as well as both a comedic and dramatic monologue and be prepared to cold read as well. Auditioners will also have a chance to sing on the demo as well as have priority when it comes to casting actual performances. We will be putting up casting notices on LA Casting and Craigslist and I will post the details here on our blog as the time comes closer. If you think you’d like to audition, this will at least make you a little more prepared. Stay tuned for details! We have welcomed another new member to our quickly growing creative team. He will be our new Musical Director. So, welcome to the team CJ DeAngeles.

What a day!!!

Angel of Music’s Stage Manager, Amanda here. Today was pretty incredible. We started early, 9:30am (early for theater people) and headed downtown. We stopped for a couple of redbulls and then proceeded onto the Fashion District. It was insane, and I might add, THE hottest day on RECORD in LA. A whopping 113 degree F!!! It was disgusting and of course the a/c in the car was acting up. We picked up some much needed fabrics, picked up a candelabra and went home for a short break. Well…at least I got a short break. Our actor Michael Wantanabi was picked up and whisked into makeup. Then we all headed out to Saugus High School for our music video shoot! Set was dressed and looking great in just under an hour. The filming went well. We finished everything in one night, and will be able to relax tomorrow. But of course we had some fun as well. Also, we would like to welcome our new Assistant Stage Manager Elizabeth Nanos!! Stay tuned for the next update as well as pictures from the video shoot courtesy of Brittany Oliphant. For now…enjoy these.

First, I would formally like to welcome you to the Angel of Music blog. Here we will keep you as updated as possible with our progress. Things are starting to happen, and they are happening quickly. Tomorrow (September 27th, 2010) we will start filming our music video for the song “Forever in Shadows”. Our good friend SpookyDan will be shooting that. –Side note, please make sure to check out his blog at http://www.SpookyDan.com– We have also welcomed a wonderful new director to our creative team. He’s an award winning director with 25 years of experience and a masters degree in educational theater. His name is JC Gafford and he’s fantastic. Also, we will be releasing our demo album, which will be available for purchase (link to follow) sometime in October. We’re hoping soon after that, to hold auditions for the workshops which will be starting up this winter. We’re on the fast track to success. We’ve got a passionate, creative team behind us and can’t wait to show the world what we’ve got. So stay tuned. Pictures and video to follow soon!
